✨ Finding My Shimmer: A Leadership Journey ✨

Hey, friends!

I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself and share a bit about my leadership journey. My name is Rochelle, and my passion is helping people discover and hone their unique skills—the things that make them them—and using those gifts to unlock their full potential.

I call this your shimmer. Your shimmer is the special quality that’s uniquely you. When you embrace and lean into what makes you shine, you’ve got the recipe for success.

My own leadership journey has been all about finding and embracing my shimmer, and I’d love to let you in on it.

I like to think I’ve always been a leader. From my early days as a Girl Guide to becoming a prefect in school and eventually serving as Head Girl in sixth form, I’ve sought out leadership roles. But that doesn’t mean it was always easy.

Back then, I struggled with imposter syndrome. I’d ask myself, Why me? What makes me more qualified than my classmates, who were just as capable and talented? I questioned whether I really deserved the role or if I was just filling a spot.

It wasn’t until I did some serious soul-searching—and had a couple of heart-to-hearts with my mum (shoutout mummy!)—that I began to understand. What set me apart wasn’t about qualifications or comparison. It was my personality, my drive, my attention to detail, and my outgoing nature. Those were my shimmer.

Once I recognized and embraced those qualities, I stopped holding myself back. I’ve been leaning into my shimmer ever since, and it has guided me to some incredible opportunities.

Today, I’m proud to hold roles like Senior Scientist, Deputy Artistic Director, and Cultural Coordinator. Each of these positions has taught me more about leadership, resilience, and the power of helping others recognize their shimmer too.

That’s what brings me here to you, my Substack community. I want to share what I’ve learned and help you find your shimmer. We all have something special within us, waiting to shine. My goal is to inspire you to uncover your unique strengths, embrace them, and use them to achieve your own success.
